Pilkington Aerospace, world leaders in the field of advanced transparencies has provided the windscreen for the Thrust SSC Project. The curved windscreen has to withstand the aerodynamic loadings on this vehicle when travelling above the speed of sound.

The windscreen is a monolithic polycarbonate with abrasion resistant coating, which has been curved using Pilkington Aerospace's patented forming processes for wrap round transparencies.

Pilkington Aerospace has provided transparencies for many major milestones in the history of transportation. These have included heated fighter goggles for the first aviators, through to heat visors for Concorde, the world's first supersonic aircraft, not forgetting Thrust 2, which broke the World Land Speed Record in 1983.
