Formerly the America Eagle 1, the North American Eagle was a challenger for Richard Noble and Thrust2's subsonic record. Designed and built by Rick Kikes of Aloha, Oregon, the NAE is driven by Les Shockley, owner and driver of the triple-jet-engined truck "Shockwave" that he and his son display at shows around America.

Powered by a GE J-79 Series 8 turbojet engine similar to that in Craig Breedlove's Spirit of America, the NAE was planned to make its record attempts on the Muroc Dried Lake Bed at Edwards Airforce Base in California.

Uniquely among the recent series of challengers for the World Land Speed Record, the North American Eagle has a passenger seat that has been used to give rides to team members, VIPs and the media.

With the record having been taken supersonic by the ThrustSSC Team, the North American Eagle team have abandoned their attempt on the World Land Speed Record, although it is planned to continue to display the car at airshows.
